Target
Introduction | Histone H2A is one of the core components of nucleosomes, which are the basic building blocks of chromatin. Unlike mammals that have a unique DNA damage response to histone H2A variant H2AX, budding yeast histone H2A contains an SQ motif at the C-terminus, which is phosphorylated by Mec1 and Tel1 kinases in response to DNA double-strand breaks. Like mammalian H2AX phosphorylation, yeast histone H2A phosphorylation at serine 129 is necessary for effective repair of DNA double-strand breaks. |
Alternative Names | H2AS129ph; Histone H2AS129ph |
