| Introduction | The protein inhibitor of activated STAT protein gamma (PIASy) acts as the E3 small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) ligase, stabilizes the interaction between UBE2I and the substrate, and acts as a SUMO binding factor. PIASy acts as a transcriptional co-regulator in many cellular pathways, including the STAT pathway, p53 pathway and Wnt pathway. PIASy is also involved in gene silencing.
