haemagglutinin

Influenza A viruses are subdivided into 16 H (H1-H16) and 9 N (N1-N9) subtypes. The nomenclature of these virus isolates indicates influenza virus type (A or B), host species (omit if human), geographic location, year of isolation, and H and N subtypes (eg: A/California/14/2009 H1N1) . The major epitopes of influenza A and B viruses are the hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) transmembrane glycoproteins. NA forms tetramers with an average size of 220kDa (~55kDa per monomer). The matrix (M) protein of influenza A virus is one of two groups of virus-specific internal proteins. Nonstructural proteins (NPs) exist as homodimers (~52kDa) composed of two identical monomers (~26kDa each).
