Procainamide
Procainamide is an antiarrhythmic drug used to treat cardiac arrhythmias. It induces rapid blockade of batfish toxin (BTX)-activated sodium channels in the myocardium and acts as a long-gated closure antagonist. Procainamide is metabolized through different pathways. The most common one is the acetylation of procainamide to the less toxic N-acetyl procainamide. Procainamide was approved by the US FDA on June 2, 1950.
