| Introduction | PIASx is a member of the PIAS (protein inhibitor of activated STAT (signal transducer and activator of transcription)) transcription regulator family. PIASx acts as an E3 small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) ligase. It stabilizes the interaction between UBE2I and the substrate and acts as a SUMO binding factor. PIASx plays an important role in the transcriptional regulation of many cellular pathways (including STAT pathway and p53 pathway). |
