Target
Introduction | ATG11 (autophagy-related protein 11), also known as the cytoplasm of vacuolating target protein 9/CVT9, is expressed in Baker's Yeast. As a scaffold protein and selective autophagy adaptor, it interacts with several different cargo receptors to mediate various selective autophagy. Atg11 recognizes and transports the substrate to the pre-autophagosome structure/PAS, the site of autophagosome formation. Lipatova et al. identified ATG11, and they found that ATG11 is an effector of the complex of Rab Ypt1 and TRAPPIII during selective macroautophagy. It is now known that ATG11 binds to Atg19, Atg32, Atg36, etc., and it is involved in vacuolar transport/CVT pathway in the cytoplasm, prophagocytosis, mitochondrial phagocytosis, and nuclear phagocytosis. Atg11 also interacts with Atg1 and Atg17, thus linking the cargo selection step to autophagosome formation. ATG11 is recruited by ATG32 into the degraded mitochondria, while Atg11 brings Dnm1 and other proteins related to mitochondrial fission to the affected mitochondria to promote their division. ATG11 is essential for the anterograde transport of ATG9 from mitochondria to PAS, and it also recruits the ATG19-prAPE1 complex to PAS. |
