IntroductionFound to stabilize, together with STF1, a complex of intrinsic ATPase inhibitor INH1 and proton-translocating ATPase (F1F0-ATPase) in mitochondrial membranes, also acts as a hydrophilins that enhances dry stress tolerance. Cell viability after desiccation and rehydration is due to the antioxidant capacity of the protein, which reduces the number of apoptotic cells during stress conditions by minimising the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the cells.
