Target

IntroductionHsp60 is an abundant, constitutively produced heat shock protein that increases cellular concentration in response to cellular shock. It exists in multiple species and has significant homology in bacteria, plants and mammals. Hsp60 of Plasmodium falciparum is a 577 amino acid polypeptide with a calculated molecular weight of 62158 Da. The primary structure of Plasmodium falciparum hsp60 contains a putative mitochondrial targeting peptide at its amino terminus and a GGM motif at its carboxy terminus. The overall structure shows strong conservation (~50%) for hsp60 in humans and other eukaryotes, but low homology (<30%) with the recently reported P. falciparum chaperone 60 gene. The Plasmodium falciparum hsp60 gene is located on chromosome 10. During heat shock, the levels of hsp60 transcripts increased significantly in blood-stage parasites, and their accumulation correlated with induction duration.
Product OverviewThe Hsp60 antibody is used as Heat Shock and Stress Protein Antibodies.
