Target
Introduction | Tumor necrosis factor (TNF, cachexia or cachexia protein; once called tumor necrosis factor alpha or TNFα) is a cell signaling protein (cytokine) involved in systemic inflammation, and is one of the cytokines that constitute an acute phase response. It is mainly produced by activated macrophages, although it can be produced by many other cell types, such as T helper cells, natural killer cells, neutrophils, mast cells, eosinophils, and neurons. TNF is a member of the TNF superfamily and consists of various transmembrane proteins with homologous TNF domains. |
